#iamReliant

Over the middle to end of 2015, Great Commission Ministries is becoming Reliant. Which is super exciting!

Reliant sounds like reliable.

While we wouldn’t be anything less, this isn’t why we will be Reliant.
To be reliant is to be dependent. And so we are!

  • Reliant on the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ
  • Dependent on His presence
  • Living for His mission

As missionaries who risk for the gospel, we are Reliant on the God who made us and who so loved the world. The Great Commission “to go and make disciples” is the ultimate reliant mission. We can’t think of a better way to say it.

You’ll keep hearing more about it, but for now, Alan has made a video highlighting the fact that we are reliant. Check out the #IAmReliant video by clicking through.

Spring Has Spring at the U of I

In the past couple of weeks, we’ve seen the weather improve a ton on campus. Walking around, we run into students we know and we see all sorts of new life. It’s an exciting time on campus. Though the semester is coming to a close in a month, we have so many awesome opportunities to see God do some amazing things!

Pray with us that God would continue to make himself known through us.

The 4 Core Commitments of Parkour

I spoke on the commitment God calls us to of loving others. It was in a series we called The 4 Core Commitments. These commitments are what we expect every Christian to be called to. As a parody, I made a little video for my walkup. Click through to enjoy.

#FreeCoffeeonCampus

The first week of school is over. After welcoming students on move-in day and getting to know them as they went to and from University orientation events, we start to get a lay of the land. I’ve met so many awesome new people and would love to have any of them around with us for the next four years. And in the midst of all the craziness we already do, we started a new initiative with Illini Life…

Spiritual Formation from a Flower Bed

Ashley and I have been gone from our home for 2 months. A summer in the mountains was a tough price to pay for not being able to be in oppressively humid Illinois for the summer.

The last two months have been spent, like many college students, away from campus. We were helping to direct a Leadership Training program in Estes Park, Colorado. 140 students from all over the country working full time jobs at the YMCA of the Rockies and hearing messages from influential leaders from all over Collegiate. It was a great summer for us.

Back at home, we had some amazing and helpful people who watched our house and mowed our lawn. Upon our return, the lawn mower even offered to do it one more time as we got settled. What a gift!
